Barnsley 1-0 West Brom
FA Cup final – 1912

Barnsley reached the FA Cup final for the second time in three years as they faced West Brom in the crucial encounter. A big and robust side, Barnsley was the clear underdogs in the final against first division outfit, West Bromwich Albion. The encounter played at Crystal Palace, finished in another goalless draw, which set up a replay at Bramall Lane. Barnsley won the cup final with two minutes remaining from the end of extra time. The ball was cleared up field to Harry Tufnell, who scored Barnsley’s goal in the 1910 final. As he raced towards the West Brom goal, Tufnell was pursued by Jess Pennington; however Tuffnell scored the winning goal.

FA Cup Final – 1931
West Brom became the first team from the second division to win the FA cup at Wembley. In what proved to be the wettest final in living memory, they met midlands rivals Birmingham City on the field. West Brom’s W.G Richardson proved no stick in the mud and scored both of West Brom’s goals, the winner straight from the restart as Birmingham City had snatched an equalizer.

West Brom went for their first FA cup trophy in 23 years as they met Preston North End in the final. It proved to be a thrilling encounter that West Brom went on to win 3-2. It was the West Bromwich Albion winger, Frank Griffin who smashed din the deciding goal. Ronnie Allen scored the other two goals for Albion as they defeated Preston, who had a team that included Tom Finney.

The first League cup final ever to be played at Wembley looked set to be a one sided contest. First division outfit West Brom faced QPR of the third division. The West Brom team featured star names, including Jeff Astle and Tony Brown. West Brom took an early lead after just seven minutes as winger Colin Clark sent a thudding right foot shot past goal keeper ‘Springett.’ Clarke scored his second with ten minutes remaining of the half. They should have added to the score line by half time, however a Springett save kept the score line at 2-0. During the early stages of the second half, QPR looked a different team. Roger Morgan rose above a ruck of defenders in the 63rd minute to score for QPR. Twelve minutes later, Rodney Marsh leveled the scores with a sublime piece of skill. Marsh glided past three defenders and cannoned a right foot shot past Sheppard. Eight minutes from time, the Albion goalkeeper lost the ball when challenged by defender Ron Hunt. Lazarus was on hand to smash the ball home. Rodney marsh was the star as QPR won the league cup of 1967.

FA Cup final - 1968

In the 1968 FA Cup finals, a Jeff Astle goal against Everton secured the honors for West Bromwich Albion, who were the first finalists to use a substitute at Wembley when Derek Clarke came on for John Kaye. It was the fifth time that West Brom had won the FA Cup and their first win in fourteen years.
